LC Audio's customer service is shocking - absolutely shocking. They never replied to any of the 5 of so emails I sent to them. It's amazing to me that they even went to all the effort to set up a online store for their products.

I talked to them about a week ago and they said they would be getting them "soon." THey said they would be getting 50 pieces in. I told them to email me when the stock arrived.

OK, So I ordered my D2.5C.

I saw some pictures of custom wooden fronts. Is there a howto availble for making such a wooden front?
Since I plan to try the Zapfilter (is that wise to do since the reports about customer support are so bad?) the headamp has to go and I need to fix the front...

Any ideas?

Anyone know whether disconnecting the front LED indicator/selection switch panel of the ZL will have any ill effects?

My ZL is currently disassembled and has had components removed - I can't test this out myself for now.

Reports are that there is an improvement by removing it. But you will lose the ability to select the coaxial input (unless you jumper it to be always be on), it defaults to optical input on power-up.

Oddly enough the 2.5's default is coaxial now. Do you have a 2.0 or 2.5, adhoc?

Sent you a PM regarding the front plate.

Even though I've never done one, the D2.5 seems to be the easiest to add the zapfilter to. Customer support might be an issue if you run into a problem.

I`m sad to say it did not work out. After several mails i got in touch with LC audio, and was able to purchase a new PSU. However, that did not help either.

I sent them a couple of mails after this asking for a way to verify if the main printboard was damaged or not. Have not heard back from them since.

At the moment a friend of mine is looking at the DAC to see if he can sort it out.

I also have the Rockna dac on order. I ordered it 5 weeks ago, and they told me last week i probably wont receive it before christmas.

I`m getting a bit tired of these small companies, wondering if i should just go all the way and get a Stello DA220 or something.

Mine's a 2.0, CS4398. It's quite a different beast now that I've replaced the rectifiers, caps, jacks and added toroids..

I am still in doubt wheter I can connect to the little grey cable coming off the D2.5 DAC board or that I have to solder on the PCB (like with the D2.0).
Any ideas?

All the signals from the dac chip should be available on that grey cable. Since you will be the first one to do the mod you will have to figure out which signals are on which wire.

The grey cable has LEFT + , - and ground & RIGHT + , - and ground.

What type of output has the CS DAC chip? Voltage or current?
