CD3000 + MGHead????

Does anybody had tried this combo....the reviews says that MGHead is not good with low impedance headphones (or specifically with the Grados) but I used to drive a pair of 7509 in the past with very good results, from the transformer coupled jack, of course the quality of these two cans are not even similar but the impedance is more or less the same...does anybody had tried this combo, and I said "tried", not "I think" or "I believe", facts, please....!

The MG Head has a reputation of being a syrupy amp -- I think that paired with the CD3000 you might find it's just too much. I thought that the combo with the Holmes Powell DCT-1 was too syrupy for my taste with a very very warm midrange and rolled-off trebles and mushy bass. I fear it would be worse with the MG Head.

That's what everybody believes here in the forum, but I was thinking if someone in fact has heard that combo, just to help me make my decision of, if I get or not the CD3000, as I stated before I had another Sony the 7509 and the sound was pretty good for me, just that I like better the HD600 with it, as I have an EQ also, so no complains, but I was trying to get something better, but which other cans? and honestly I was impresed since I saw the fisrt time the MR10, I can't raise cash enough to go for the beast, but at least I will go for the beauty, the little brother, I think that is a good choise anyway, the Grados sound really deplorable with the MGHead, so I do not have too many choices left after the HD600, the Ety's maybe? well at least I will have the chance or trying them thanks to the generosity of williamgoody that will bring them home for a short listening section, but whos gonna gimme the chance of trying the CD3000, not many people have them here

Sovkiller, I have both the MG Head DT and the CD3000s. The MG Head is modded to remove the negative feedback, so it sounds quite different from stock. Nonetheless, I just A/B'd the Head against the Earmax Pro, and with the CD3000s, there is no contest. the MG Head makes them sound thin, shrill and downright horrible. As I recall, before the mod was done, the match-up with the Head wasn't much better........kind of like the Head's performance with Grados. The Earmax Pro/CD3000, on the other hand, and in my opinion, is a match made in Heaven. Hope this helps.
