HD540 EQ settings reference thread

This earlier thread started out with Sennheiser HD430 impressions but gravitated towards the HD540 quickly. This may be confusing, so here's a new one that I should have opened earlier. You may officially let it sink like a stone .

Current Shibatch Super Equalizer .eq file for my Sennheiser HD540 'Reference' (600 ohm version), as of 2005-05-20:

Looks like the longer I listen in peace and quiet at home, the more sensitive I get to bright treble.

The brightness of 540G is because the aging of the ear pads.
I got a new pair here, they give my 540g a whole new life.

Doesn't one also need the foam pieces for the '540 Gold? Anyway, of course one should not be using old earpads and foam that suffer from serious disintegration. My '540 (non-Gold) apparently had its pads (foam is included) replaced several years ago. While we're at it, what's the trick in getting the pads off?

Very good thread, I just wich someone would do this to entry level headphones like PX100 or HD 497. It would be interesting to test different settings.

At the moment I'm using the same EQ for every headphone to compare them. I read about this on the internet and it seems this EQ curve tries to counter some of the Fletcher Munson effect:
