Noob wanting headphone advice

I am an avid MD user and I have been using my Sony VR700's for quite some time now. I am going to be in the Market for some new cans in the near future and wanted to see what was available.. I saw the grado headphones and it seems that they are highly rated around these parts. I wanted to know some personal opinions on say the RS1 cans and the RS2's and the differences. I also see people raving about the new GS1000's which are considerably more expensive. I just wanted to know if the sound difference between my sony's is worth an extra 500 beans or so... thanks in advance

This actually belongs in the headphone forum...
But to answer your question, the RS1s and RS2s would stomp all over your V700s.

If that's your set-up:

MD player -> MDR-V700DJ

Then anything else will raunch that setup. Pawn both and welcome to head-fi madness. Sorry for your wallet.
