To counter the most over-rated phone thread, I offer the most under-rated.

Let me know which phones I've left off this list and I'll try to add them ASAP.

How about the Grado SR60??
It seems not many people like them here but they got many positive reviews from countless magazines. I personally haven't heard any of the Grado phones though.

Bummer--
I just realized that only Moderators can edit polls. That sucks!!! Oh well, sorry PC Corp.

hey Mark, nevermind.
I just gave my 2 cents.

Actually I voted for the AkG K1000s.

I voted for the SR 225/325 considering i really like my pair and Headphone.com loves them calling them the best phones for rock music.

Please forgive me for talking too much.
I took a deeper look at the list and I'm wondering now that what's the point to put the Sony R10 and Stax Omega 2 there.
(I thought it should be "Omega 2", not " Omega", right???)

Those are very expensive headphones (or earspeakers) and I cannot comprehend why a normal income person would call them under-rated.

I'm no Kelly.
And I really didn't mean to attack you personally. Or did I?

They are there to balance out the Sony MDR-10. If the Sony is over-rated, so is the Stax Omega.

I've left the Senn Orpheus alone because-- duhh!!!-- it's the best. Hard to see how it's "over-rated".

Over-rated??
Are we talking under-rated phones here.

Stax Signature. At under $1500 for the entire set (phones + amp) I think it destroyed everything at the Headroom show that wasn't electrostatic, even combos that included amps that cost 2x its price. People recommend $1000 amps left and right for headphones like the HD600 and yet the Stax Signature doesn't get much press.

Anyway, for the most part I think Head-fi and its members have done quite well at correctly rating headphones. Headphones do tend to get overhyped when they are new on the block, but the level-headed reviews eventually come in and we always get a good overall picture of each headphone. There isn't so much over or under rating going on here to worry me.

Just in case, I levelled the playing field

Who voted for HD 590? beowulf? bkelly? Vertigo-1?

I'm staying out of this vote for now, because I haven't heard anything that I've underrated.

I did.

I voted for the 590 on the basis that most dismiss it without even listening to it, or don't like it simply because it doesn't sound like the 580 or 600. A lot of people who own this headphone (like myself) genuinely enjoy it, though I can understand why it wouldn't appeal to some listeners, like yourself.

Markl,
When did Sony release the MDR CD-1800? I'm sure it is the CD-1700.

I corrected that entry.
