Ed, you have restored my faith in humanity.

909's experience is what I considered typical. Which is why my motto has been " No good deed goes unpunished"

Yeah, I guess it's my good 'ole Midwestern upbringing coming through.

Shortly afterwards, I had accidentally dropped my bluetooth headset in the toilet. So I guess that's karma paying me back.

What were you doing with your head or/and headset over the toilet?

How did you manage to pull off this feat?

Unbeknownst to me, the water was shut off, and the toilet clogged. Was wearing it on my shirt, when I was trying to unclog the toilet. And of course the headset went for a dunk.

Since there was no way to remove the built in battery, the headset shorted out.

It had to be a clogged toilet. I hope it wasn't too nasty. Did you have insurance?

Nope. But at least I dropped a $90 headset rather than the $600 phone.

My mom knew a guy who was mugged and beaten to unconsciousness after a football game, or baseball game, or something similar. Some people saw him unconscious on the ground and found his phone and used it to call his home and tell them what happened. (I assume they called 9-1-1 also, donno whether or not they used his phone to do it)

I tell ya, these phones are incredible things. Check out a book called "The World Is Flat" (forget the author), it's really interesting. It's about how pretty much anyone can instantly get in contact with pretty much anyone else, anywhere, at any time.

It's by Thomas Friedman, a writer for the New York Times.

Indeed, it's a wonderfully insightful book. Recommended for EVERYBODY concerning world politics and economics. Don't ever start a discussion regarding outsourcing of jobs, or participate in one, unless you've read that book.
