Modded Apollo (Black) Excellent Cond.

For sale is my modded (black colored) Apollo. I have simply trippled the power supply capacitor that was just 25v/4700uf and used silver wire. The mod can be easily undone, if not wanted, just snip the two wires and remove caps/wires and doublesided tape from case. This will also help preserve the original warranty. With the mod, now there is a great reserve of power available for deep bass responces and transient peaks. This Apollo has no quarks about it. It plays extreemly well. It demonstrates a great wealth of sound. Two months old. It is time to sell to get ready to buy the Rega Saturn as soon as it hits at $1899. The mod on this player is working excellently but the mod carries no guarentee. As a result, the mod comes to you free of any additional charge. I will guarentee a 100% good working player upon arrival. And you still have the factory warranty with it.

I will double box with manual and remote. Money order only in cont.U.S. Weekend Special $old plus No FREE shipping.

There is room in my PM box.

Besides the free mod I will throw in free shipping now also. I will edit the main topic to reflect this.

How would you rate your player's condition? I'm guessing your rating would remain a ten after a mere two months' crunch-in (unless your rug metamorphosed to steel wool during the festive modding ritual). Also: Did the power supply make a significant, subtle or nearly undetectable difference?

Cannot say the Apollo is new. But it is as close to it as it gets. There was a subtle change to it. I felt the Apollo was fine after breakin but I had the parts and it was overly easy to do. So I did the mod anyway.

I have to know -- has the Apollo been sold or not? Did you sell it on Audiogon instead?

Are people afraid to buy this because of Apollo performance issues reported on Audio Asylum? Yes, the warranty might be voided by Mike's mod, unless you reverse it. Even so, I'm not certain what the issue could be. Mike says his Apollo has no quirks and plays flawlessly, which dispenses with the QC issue. I've talked myself out of buying this kit at least four times already -- always because of budgetary considerations, never because of questions about SQ, hardware reliability or the buyer!

The unit is not sold yet. The mod was done in such a way as to be easily pulled off for warrenty work if need be. I am very fond of this player. If it does not sell, that is OK too. But my specials are over now. The current price is now $995 firm .
