Grado GS-1000's or Shure E500's? - Page 2

Buy the Shure E500's now. Later when the FOTM luster has worn off the GS-1000's pick those up on the secondary market for a substantial savings.

Wouldn't you expect the E500 price to follow the same pattern when initial excitement wears off?

The shure is already seeing significant discounting in preorder. And there's less room for movement in a $400 can than in a $1000 can.

You're asking sugarfried to recommend which one to buy? LOL

the problem with waiting for anything to be discounted is that I have to wait for the next FOTM to come around before I see any worthwhile discounts on current FOTM's...

I think that board rules don't allow me to give that type of information. Also, I didn't get to try the GS-1000 at the national meet. I'm kind of bummed about it, but I'll have a pair soon after they're available.

Couldn't resist I preordered the e500s from headroom,I tried them at the national meet,Liked them a lot.
Allready have the GS1000 prototypes.

You are comparing Apples to Oranges The Gs1000s are a full blown headphone for Home use that has a big soundstage & will also let you feel the bass as well as hear it.
Only briefly heard the Shures but they are good enough to use as a home & on the go phones, comparing the two soundwize I won't be able to tell you that untill I get the Shures.

So I am in the camp of you have to buy them both.
