Wow... console fans are almost as bad as religious/politcal people...





Back on topic... I'll probably pick up a Wii (I shall never be able to say its name in person though) when it first comes out. It should be fun to be able to play Earthbound and the like on the Virtual Console again (SNES died a sad death ).

I may pick up a PS3 or 360 later, depending on how cheap they get and what games they feature. In all honesty I don't see what the constant insulting the consoles does. I mean they all have their niche, and if they screw up somewhere they'll lose market share and possibly even drop out of the running (which is an unlikely scenario for all three companies). They're video game systems, things you play with to have fun. Geez... no need to get all worked up about it.

Call it consolitics. I think it's because it's something we've grown up with and sort of come to feel allegiance to one company or another. I have gone through many phases, nintendo, sony, and now I am very into the 360. I'm sure it will change again. It would be nice to see nintendo rise again though, instead of large companies that decide to make video games on the side and charge through the roof for them. Maybe the Wii controller will work for me, I don't know. My initial impressions weren't good though, but I haven't touched one (nor has anyone else) so I can't say for sure.

I'm all behind nintendo this time around. Gamecube was an awesome machine with an excellent controller, they just didn't have the developers behind em and nintendo learned from that. Nothing from the ps3 expo really impressed me except for hideo kojima's work. i gotta feelin that it'll turn out just like the DS-PSP competition did. PSP's got that gorgeous screen but DS outsold it for two reasons, games and price. Whenever i see a psp around it's usually playing a movie, not a game. anyone else find it pretty weak when sony unveiled their own motion controller? Go nintendo, stomp em! Whip em with that awesome nunchuck!

even the name sounds like WEeeeEEEeeeeeEE! as in having fun.

Looks like Nintendo is throwing the whole mature concept out the window and just focusing on cartoon games and games that appeal to youngin'

I did some pic searching online and so far in game pics are similar to the original xbox.

Im guessing nintendo will come in dead last place by a huge margin behind the sony and xbox.

They may be targeting family orientated folks with mario/wario and the bright colored cartoon like metroid, but I do not believe the system will be preferred over the ps3 or xbox.

i would assume battery, most likely akaline, but it'd be fun to see a removeable li-ion kind of thing maybe.

Nintendo's desire to try to please everyone at the same time is their weak point. If the Xbox starting promoting "Spongebob's adventure" or something, people's opinion of it would probably be lowered. From what I can see, Nintendo has a strong lineup set up for launch, including Twilight Princess, which looks nothing short of amazing. If it's better than Ocarina of Time, I will Wii myself.

The official name sucks, and the hardware may not end up being competitive, but if the price is right, I might pick up a Revolution anyway.

At the right price point it doesnt have to be. If people are shelling out 400-600 dollars for a console, they might be willing to spend an extra $250 for a Wii on top of that. It will end up being secondary, but i have a feeling that while you wont be finding a 360 and a ps3 in the same house very often, you will be one hell of a lot more likely to find a Wii and a 360 or a Wii and a ps3 in the same house.

The Wiigun.

I like it. A game with dual wiiguns using sticks for movement and looking would be bad ass. All other shooters would pale by comparison.

And while I didn't like the Wii name when it came out, it's growing on me. It's instantly recognizable, whimsical, and dare I say it, a little cute. Course, I always hated "Revolution" as it sounds too faux bad ass. I mean, it's a console for crying out loud. Hardly the most manly thing around.

I can't wait to pick up a Wii. Supposedly it's going to cost less than $200, which is awesome.

I've really enjoyed my gamecube, and it looks like the Wii is going to be even better. I can't begin to tell you how many hours my friends and I have wasted drunkenly racing each other in F-Zero GX. I'll probably pick up an Xbox 360 too, once the price goes down a bit and the Halo 3 is out.

I knew it.

The accelerometer and gyro more or less just respond to overall movement. So it's just a simple parlor trick for the Wii-mote.

I've seen so many people moving around like crazy, but for example, the Tennis game, the player moves automatically, and simple movement makes the player swing. Does not matter how it's moved, or where it's moved. Pretty lame.

And for FPS games, the Wii-mote requires line of sight with the sensor bar.

Hardcore gamers will get over the novelty very quickly, and get bored of the Wii very fast.

Nintendo's goal to gain more casual gamers will work with the gimmicky Wii-mote, but it will alienate hardcore gamers.
