Since i just got my HD580s, i'm now considering my storage options. Where does everyone store their headphones? I was considering the headphone bag from HeadRoom which runs $24.00 and so far i havent found any viable alternatives.

Try a search on "glass head".

In their box

I store all my fullsize headphones in the box(es) they came in, except for my Sony MDR-7506. Since I use them every day in my studio, I simply leave them on my desk next to my mixer.

Ahh.. kinda like they have in various stores. Nah... i would rather have them put away somewhere safe and protected.

My sennheisers came in a crappy paper box with a window in it. For such expensive headphones, i would of thought they would have had nicer packaging.

Office: an open, two-gallon, ZipLock-type bag used as a sort of dustcover/pouch.

Home: underneath a desk hutch overhang, which keeps them quite well-protected from dust (and, besides, I wear these ones a lot).

My Etymotics are kept in a little North Face ballistic nylon pouch.

And any other headphones I have are kept in Eagle Creek soft-side zippered storage "boxes".

I put my headphones in the drawers of my side table. One headphone per shelf.

Since I use Alessandro/Grados I am always worried about dust getting into the transducers through the open side screens.

So my ritual is to store them in a drawer or baggies also but on the chance some dust MAY have gooten in I start every listening session with AC/DC CRANKED UP TO 10 to ensure the tiny little dust balls fly off from the extreme rapid transducer travel

'course I can't hear sh*t for an hour or so.................

Pretty much the nearest reasonably flat surface to where I used the phone last.

I guess I should be looking at some hassle-free storage...

Take at look at some pilot gear websites.
They all stock alot of different bags and holders for headphones.
Pilots use big bulky headsets so the items designed to store them will fit the larger headphones alot of people on head-fi own.

I have my CD player and equipment set up on my desk. All my headphones live in the drawer directly beneath along with my PCDP, PMDP/R, CDs (in a CaseLogic binder), MDs (in a box), and various cables and accessories. My Sony MDR-V6, however, are too fat and don't fit in the shallow drawer, so they live on top of the CDP.

It's kind of funny that my music takes up such a big chunk of my minimal space. But, ya know, you do what you have to.

OMG I can't believe how right you are!!

I just skimmed through this site's product page to find well above 20 different headphone bags!!! (listed as headset bags)

I have a large ziplock bag for each headphone, but I never use them anymore. I usually just throw the headphones on a bookshelf by my bed, out of reach of my 2-year old son, but in a location not banned by my wife, on top of a container in which I keep my minidiscs.

use the search function to find jude's testimonial of how his pouch took a 9mm round and managed to still protect his ety's from damage!

Mine are stored behind doors on a shelf in the stereo cabinet right above the shelf with the source and amp. That way I can grab everything and rapidly deploy it, thus minimizing the time between thought and action.
