i made an order with him about 6 days ago. He said to would take two extra days for installing them and burn in and the next two days it was at my door step.

This thing sounds so warm and detailed. I cant belive how good it is. Really..

How good is Zhaolu's headamp?
the headamp sounds great to me. The bass is slightly bloated, but that my tighten up after burn in. Ive only used it for around 3 hours. Overall i think it sounds great. The headamp might be just ok, but the dac itself delivers the music and nothing but the music so i think thats why it sounds great. I cant wait for my amp to be made. This thing will really shine!

Well I guess I'm going to get one. One last question though. Since the XLR outputs aren't truely balanced, would it be worth using them or would I be better off running the zhaolu into a headfive/glite and using a standard 1/4" hook up?

I thought it is confirmed that it is truly balanced

Couldn't resit any longer, placed my order with eddie just now.

D-2.0 with CS-4398/black-gates.

If this beats my 640C then I'll be a very happy man.

cant wait!

So how does one get a hold of Eddie to order one of these things?
Ami I missing something? (his e-mail, perhaps?)

I just emailed him at sales@diykits.com.hk to place my order.

By the way, my CDP has Co-axial and optical digital outputs. Which one shall I use? also can anyone recommend a nice cable for either? thanks.

Really? I searched zhaolu and xlr/balanced and didn't find anything saying that is IS balanced. If it is then I guess I'd be better off using that instead of a headfive... Balanced DT770 anyone?

I think the DAC is balanced but the amp is not. I can be wrong tho..

and I'm a noob, what happen if i got XLR connector on my headphone and plug it into the balanced out from Zhaolu?

I emailed Wei from iFi Audio about this and they are definitely balanced but won't be affected by the headamp. About connection of headphones directly into the balanced outputs, it should surely produce sound but I don't know what you should expect from the sound quality. Some people, like Alwayswantmore, have reported succesful results when connecting their balanced headphones directly into a CDP's balanced outputs but I don't know if this would also apply to DACs. I've seen some people using their balancesd HD 650s connected into the Lavry DA10's balanced outputs but I think those are affected by the amp. Is it the same with the DAC-1?
