I have a chance to buy a set of EPI speakers. Are these any good? Will I be happy?

All I have to say is that their awesome pair of headphones. Great sound stage, vocals are a bit too strong, you can feel the bass other than hearing it, and great for movies. Comfort is 4.5...

I know people bash on Bose because of they're over priced and I agree. I believe these retail for about $150 or so and I paid $85 for these due to employee discount at where I work. With that...

I bought these headphones as an upgrade from my BD DT-770 Pro 80Ohm. The are better in all areas, except that the right can can't handle bass. As soon as there are low bass it just becomes a...

everything about these headphones is flawless. Everything is balanced, and perfect. Any of the reviews that didn't like them most likely have a fake pair, or, hate life. The only thing I could...

I have never listened to a pair, but from what I read on the 'net, EPI is much loved. I remember when I was growing up in the 80s, I lusted after EPI's model 100 in the Crutchfield catalog. Too bad they went out of business before I can afford them.
I would suggest going over to audiokarma.org and asking about EPI.

I purchased a pair of the classic EPI 100's ~1980, and regrettably sold them a just few years back when I needed cash more than speakers. It was my first hi-fi system, and at this point I am simply waxing nostalgic when I think about their sound. But as I recall, it was wonderful for the money (<US$200/pr) at the time. A great value.
To get a used pair today would depend soley on their condition. I'd imagine that much of the foam parts will likely have deteriorated, & at least require replacement.
With the quality of low-priced bookshelves in that same price range today (Athena, Infinity, Klipsch, etc), unless you got the EPI's for free or close to it, I'd say you were better off going new w/warranty instead.

I had some EPI speakers back in the 70s and they were good in their day but dome tweeters have gotten a lot better since then.Small woofers are a lot better also.
