Is the gs-1000 expected to ship in a nice wooden box? Or will it be shipping in a cardboard box like the rs-1?

I liked Roy Orbison's version better myself...

Sorry... but, ya... that's what I'm saying. Just teasing. Wasn't meaning to be 'picking' on you.

The history behind it is that Grado Labs switched from the wooden boxes to the pizza boxes a long time ago and will never turn back. Or so I'm told. Reasons? Much cheaper and less hassle.

aw, with the talk of the gs-1000's being ready and having to wait two months or so for the boxes it seemed like perhaps they were going to wooden boxes for these...

I highly doubt that they'll sell in the same quantity that rs-1's did simply because of their price, which further suggests that grado wouldn't be a large enough customer to be able to support a wooden box manufacturer solo as mentioned in Zanth's interview, but still, because of the low quantity that would be sold, if they did a huge batch of wooden boxes, it would last them for quite a while!

Maybe I am just dreaming...for for 1000$ it'd be nice for them to come in something other than cardboard.

But then it would cost $1050 or whatever

But one of the reasons for the wooden boxes being gone is they took too much space to store so that probably wouldn't really be incentive for Grado...

Totally agree but John knows that it's not the box that sells them and he seems to have the sonics right on this one.

Gonna be a cardboard box.

I like the grado boxes, much easier to open than the plastic ones some companies use, and when you get your new headphones speed is of the essence!

Now, that is funny.

You don't need no stinking box. You'll take them off for what 3 minutes when you shower? Otherwise you'll be rock'in 24\7.

Besides the pizza boxes are made out of recycled pot stems that Jerry Garcia dropped and were saved for posterity by his loyal fans. John Grado having followed the band in what's known as the lost years offered to recycle the 38 metric tons of stems into plain white Grado Boxes.

Save a Tree Buy Grado.
