yet another IEM question - Sony EX81 vs. Sennheiser CX300

Which one has better sound? I heard great things about Ex81's compared to EX71's, and I've heard great things about the CX300.

I own the Ex71's right now, well, they're broken, wire went mad after a year of semi-everyday use. They don't appeal to me much either, their sound is too muddy to spend another 50 euros on them. Are the EX81's a great improvement? I'm not even sure if I want the shape, but I want to hear.

I'm heading to bed now, I'll check the replied in the morning. Don't let me down, nay?

EX81 sucks. I don't think they're any improvement on the EX71.

FOr a bit more then 50 Euros you can move to an actual IEM like an E2c or UM1.

i'd second that. the bass from 81 is as muddy as it from the 71. man, there are a lot of better phones out there on the market, even in the same price range, forget about the sony thing now.

Thirded; my CX300 sound nearly as good as my UE Super.fi 5 Pro.

If so, then just get the Creative's. They're not much different from the Senn's or so people say.

This is an unconfirmed rumor based on physical appearance. I have seen nothing other than guesswork concluding this.

the Creative ep630 and Sennheiser cx300 do not sound exactly the same, but has a pretty similar sound signature. the cx300 is a bit brighter and has a bit less bass. the ep630 sounds smoother. i prefer the ep630 over the cx300. i do not think the cx300 is worth the extra over the ep630.

Argh, so sorry for not replying to everything said here until now, major internet problems combined with that I refreshed the page (and no replies appeared) confused me. Thank you all for the replies!

Well, the CX300's are (magicaly) less expensive than the EP630's over here, and the J-cord appeals to me a bit more. I will just buy them, and find out.

Oh, and the person who mentioned the E2 and such: I know what you mean, but I've still got parents to deal with. Especialy my mom, who freaks out at 40 euros for earbuds. (While, last year, it was 50 euros, lol!)

I used to like my ex51's, but then I heard the KSC 75's, and they're worlds apart, so unless there's some big changes in the mdr-ex line, then I'd stick with the Creatives.

Amazon price
EX 71: $30
EX 81: $33
CX 300: $55
E2: $75
Sounds better, costs more in this case.
