Vintage receivers (Pioneer, Luxman, Marantz, Sansui)? - Page 2

I remember my first receiver, a Technics 15wpc bought new when I was 12.
Bought after going to my first Hi Fi show.
Back then, they actually gave you the specs for the capacitors used inside.

Hello.  I have a luxurious wood Luxman receiver that I'd like to sell.  I bought it around 1978.  I love how the dials just glide and how beautiful it is.  I have stored it well.  Does anyone know the value?  Thank you, Nina

Does anyone know much about this particular Sansui receiver. The model simply states "5500".

I know exactly nothing about vintage receivers and my father-in-law wants to get rid of it. Thanks!

Google is your friend.  Tons of links.  Enjoy.

Thanks, yeah I Googled and got a lot of hits on other models like G5500, AU5500, QRX5500, etc. My model is simply "5500" with no other letter designations. I guess what I'm asking is a) is this model rare and b) how much should I ask for it online when I go to sell it?

I just bought a Marantz 2252b for 100 bucks off of craigslist.  10 dollars for some contact cleaner and my high end stuff sound thin compared to this beauty

Marantz 22xx series are great receivers.  I had a 2230 and I liked it very much, very warm.  The only reason why I got rid of was because I needed a bigger wattage receiver to drive my monster Pioneer cs-63dx's. I now have a Sansui 8080db and a 8080 non-db.  Love'em...

Great deal BTW...

I've got a beautiful Realistic STA-77 that I love for my bedroom setup.

I actually like it more than a Pioneer SX 780 that I rebuilt.

Long story short, dont doubt old Realistic gear!
