Your Favorite War Movie/Film?

Thread Starter
Lately I've been watching some war related films, and I've been craving for some more. I've been watching movies about WW1, cold war, Korean War, and persian gulf war. So what is your favorite all time "war" movie?

I've always like Enemy at the Gates. Other than that I like Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, and I recently watched Lord of War, which I guess you could consider a war movie.

Yeah, pretty much the same with me.

Although by stretching it a little bit, I think I can squeeze Starship Troopers in there.

Yeah that one's a must see. Saving Private Ryan and Enemy at the Gates are also good. I need to get around to seeing the Band of Brothers and the Thin Red Line.

While I do have a bunch of war movies on my grand list of near 100 films, but by far the best war film - and the only film I feel justified in calling an epic - is Band of Brothers.
The movie has enough time to allow for true personality development in the characters, and the group of soldiers selected was a particularly good choice as they are actual people.
Honorable mention goes to No Man's Land, a chechoslovakian film about a civil war and three men stuck between the fronts with one trapped on a bouncing betty mine.
Have to like sub-titles though.
I have to see Saving Private Ryan again, but I'm pretty sure it shall remain in third place.
There is another movie I want to see from the 80s called THE BEAST, about a Russian tank crew in Afganistan. Has anyone seen it?

Hmm, Grave of the Fireflies is one of my recommendations on Netflix. I guess I'll have to watch it sometime. Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan are definitely excellent, but I thought Enemy at the Gates was pretty senseless and anticlimactic. Snipers are always cool, though.

[edit]Wow, forgot Apocalypse Now.[/edit]
