cables and the HD580 / Hd6x0

I have experienced with both the HD580 and the HD600 that the sound cracks when using the cardas cable, if you pull the cable a bit the sound comes back. Both the Hd580 and the Hd600 were bought second/third handed. Is there anything to tweak or do?

Have you tried spraying contact cleaners on the connector pins (and a little bit on the headphone input jacks)? It did a lot of wonder on my HD-580 and all cables that use the smaller-sized connectors (stock HD-580 & Silver Dragon cables).
