power cable recommendation for HA-1?

I'll be getting a Corda HA-1 MKII here in a few days and it unfortunately does not come with the power cord. I'll be using it with a TEAC cd player and Beyer DT990's.

Will I need to go with any sort of special cable (Zu Birth, etc.) or am I ok w/ any garden variety computer power cable?

Any computer power cable will do.

That's good to hear--- I can save myself about $60 by using a spare one from work rather than getting one of the Zu Birth cable's on Ebay... (although they do look mighty cool). I'd rather get a couple cd's (Deep Purple's been on my hitlist for a while).

i would pick up a Volex shielded 14 AWG cable for $7.74. it probably won't make a difference in sound, per se, but i'm partial to shielded power cables.

I could probably get something very similar at a Micro Center or someplace like that, right?

i've never seen shielded power cables at my local micro center, but i've never specifically looked for them there, so i don't know. it's worth a shot.

Try a standard 18AWG computer cable or get the Volex A/C if you must. Do not spend hundreds of US dollars on audiophile or most especially custom A/C cords like I did. Be wiser with your money than I was. At best, audiophile A/C cords discolor the sound and induce a surreal sound on steroids which is absolutely innaccurate, imprecise, and extremely difficult to compensate for with other audiophile A/C cords. I own the top of the line cost no object Cardas Golden Reference Power A/C at $425 USD for a single 1.0 meter length cord. It does not nearly sound as neutral, as transparent, as accurate, or as precise as my standard 18AWG A/C cord that is connected to the back of the separate power supply unit to my Ray Samuels Audio HR-2 headphone amplifier. However, I did realize that I was paying for a very well known and highly reputable brand name in the audiophile world. I knew of the sonic discolorations and I chose to purchase it. Mea culpa.

It kills me to know that I can obtain 100% neutrality, transparency, and accuracy with impeccable precision just by scrounging around my home for a standard computer A/C cord valued at under $2.00 USD, but it is true. I realize that I am superimposing my audio criteria onto you, but in that vein, I am not lying to you.

Forgive me for inputing my contrarian opinions if they are unwarranted. As a fellow member, I did not want to see you go down the path I did.

Actually Welly Wu, it's good to know that I don't need to spend excess $$$ on a boutique power cable, and can instead purchase more music to listen to. A much better investment, I think.

Apar111:

You are 1,000 yards farther into this insanely expensive headphone high fidelity hobby than I am now.
