Recommend a headphone pls?

Thread Starter
This is what I need one for:

. Plug into my Audigy 2 ZS for music
. Plug into my iPod for music (not that frequently though)
. Use as a guitar monitor with my Vamp2 amp simulator
. Use as vocals/acoustic guitar monitor when using Mic/Line from Soundcard
. It'd be nice if they aren't too loud, but i dont care that much about the sound leak.

I'd like to spend about $150. I've been looking at the Senn HD580. Any other recommendations? thanks !

Welcome to head-fi, and sry about your wallet

The hd580 is a great can! Also tjeck the beyerdynamic dt231, great value for money, but hardly any soundstage.

edit- ups I read wrong, you don“t mind about the sound leakage... well then the ms-1 are great, but get the sennheiser 414 pads for them, because the stock pads are painful like hell. The grado sr-225 are also great, I really like mine.

Welcome to Head-Fi and sorry about your wallet.
Headphone recommendation: Alessandro MS-1 (made by Grado for Alessandro High-End Products). 99$ including worldwide shipping. These are specially tuned to be used as guitar monitors. Endorsed by Eric Johnson, among others. They don't need to be amped because of their low impedance. Will work fine straight out of an iPod.
And not just that. These are an awesome introduction to the Grado sound signature, a long time forum favorite, and the cans that introduced many of us (including myself) to high-end headphones. You'll love 'em.

Guitar? Did you say GUITAR??!!

Comfy is right!!

If you said "Guitar" then you said "Alessandro"!!

Ya gotta take a close look at Alessandro MS-1!! Ya just gotta!!

Less than 100 bucks and marketed through a guitar amp maker who sells Grado headphones manufactured to Alessandro sonic requirements; with Guitars and pro sound requirements uppermost in mind!!

And of course they sound great with most kinds of music, too!!

But they really rock, with rock!

And they don't even need an amp!

How cool is that!

MS-1 seems good for you. Also take a look at the Grado SR80.

x2, look no further than the MS1. The HD580 tends to artificially mask / blanket critical guitar tones around 4500Hz. If youre not careful you'll end up EQ-ing, or tweeking mic placement to compensate and tones on tape will become bright and aggressive. At least this is what Ive found with my Line6 simulator and shure SM57.
