The upgrade is over!

I went to work today, like everyday, I picked up my daily newspaper, but today What HiFi came out so I bought that too. When I got to the office, I had a quick look and spotted the Sennheiser 600 brand new and boxed for £120/$170-ish at Richer Sounds.

I always know richer sounds have special offers on all the time, and I got the 580 from them before for £55/$80-ish but this offer not just takes the biscuit. It takes the whole tin! My local dealer has them for £250 so at 10:00 when the mail order line opens, I rang up and ordered a pair. And now my system is complete, the 580 will now go back into it's box for spare. 5 working days for delivery, can't wait!

Then you should decide quickly, David.

When they had the 580 sale I was kinda late, and before I could 'arrange' something with British connections the price went up again.

Personally, I think this is a good offer - but you can get them at this price in Germany (regularly)
The HD580 offer however was absolutely outstanding.

David, Go on, you know you want to. I have the 580 too but they'll be my spare pair now, total I have spent £180 on 580&600, not bad at all. All thanks to Richer sounds.

They also have the Sony SCDBX940 SACD player for £200! that's ridiculously cheap, I don't know how they make any money. Unfortunately, my HiFi have out grown Richer sounds. They don't have anything better then my current setup so no more discount like these on future upgrade unless I get ex-demo.

Seriously, if you want to get them. Do it quick! It's almost never they'll ever sell the HD600 this cheap again. I didn't even know they carry the 600, I thought the 580 is the best cans they sell. Even if you want to sell them, you probably won't lose much on what you pay for them as the normal retail price varies between £160 - £250.

raymondlin,
So you think your done upgrading (ha, ha, ha)! I wish I had a dollar for every one of us who made that same statement time and time again! Welcome to our Twilight Zone, where the upgrades never end!

But to upgrade what I already have, I'll have to buy something like the Max to get some real improvement. The CD player isn't changing, the headpones are the best I can afford. The Sennheiser Orpheus is out of the question, if I had that much money, I rather have an all singing, all dancing surrond sound system.

Heh, when I was in London this summer I wanted to stop by Richer Sounds which I saw on the street...but silly me...I went and saw really boring stuff like the Big Ben, changing of guards, and the British Musuem instead....no offense intended or anything.

TimD... If it was the Richer sounds at the very far end of Oxford Street, be grateful you didn't go in there... by far and away the nastiest shop i've ever been in

Lets put it this way... I said that I wanted an upgrade for my HD580s, and they suggested some Philips phones worth about £15... kinda put me off!!

I second Raymondlins sentiment... Upgrade fever has been and gone... time to spend my pennies on my computer for a while

Richer sounds is not really a place to ask info on HiFi, some of their staff are like 17 yrs old! I generally know what I want before I go in there. find it, ask for a discount (they usually give one) buy it and leave. Demo the stuff in a proper HiFi retailer with proper demo rooms first before so you know how they sound.

But sometimes their stuff is so cheap that you hate yourself for not waiting a bit longer as they might have it half price or something.
