But I finally warmed up to the HP2. God, for the first two hours it was like I had frigging cotton shoved in my ears and the RS1 on. Going back and fourth, I have to say that they're very "different strokes for different folks" as far as a preference goes. Were the HP2 a reasonable price, they'd really replace the need for my HD650... they sound a bit darker. Seem a bit fuller on the lower end too.
Of course, this is with bowls on the RS1 (my preference) and flats on the HP2. I'm gonna try the RS1 with flats next, and see if that's where the lower body is coming from. Haven't done that with them in a while, since I like the clarity and detail of the bowls so much.
Still, no matter what I compare the RS1 to,the sound of them always reminds me of staring at autumn leaves in a cold clear stream. Being primarily visual, I think I can break that image up like this:
Vibrant color and warmth: Red/Yellow Maple leaves.
Cold water moving: Crisp clear tone, nothing in the way... feels like very little separates you visually from the leaves.
Slight movement of water: Quick speed.
I'll do more impressions a bit later on, thanks again to jjcha for lending me the HP2 for the eve!
