Music database options?

What is the popular choice for music databases? It looks like the last time this question came up was in 2004. On that thread, the suggestions were collectorz & OrangeCD Catalog. They are $35 - $40, which is OK if they are all I need or want.

Any other options?

ID3 Tags

I just use a free ID3 Tag Editor. It pretty much stores all the album info i want. ID3s in conjunction with Winamp works really well. Ctrl + J allows lookups. Plus you can generate lists. Hope this helps.

The Tag Editor looks good, and I'll probably download it and try it out.

I was really looking for a database to keep track of what I have and store the list off to an archive disc. XP can search & use keywords to find songs, but it can't produce a list of Artist and albums that I have and save the list as a word doc, or some other format that can be shared with others.

Does this make sense at all?

You could just put all of your albums into your 'own it' list at www.rateyourmusic.com

I can vouch for this free service - it's really quick and easy to use. Unfortunately, I've only put in about 200 or so of my albums - if I put my ENTIRE collection in all during one sitting, I'd probably have missed a good three days' worth of meals...

Winamp can generate lists...such as albums...track info...all the such. So there wouldn’t be a need to have an archival sys. Granted you actually own all your albums. Also you can export it to html, or .doc. Then you could print it...and perhaps store it with the media on a shelf or something?
