Is it worth trying to make bi-flanges of Ety tri-flanges for Shure E4 ?

Following tips I got here, I modded the Shure tri-flanges by cutting the smallest flange and trimming the stem, and now I have a good seal with my Shure E4G's.
However I still have some Ety tri-flanges left, because I gave my Etymotic ER-4's to my wife, but she only uses the foamies.
I saw that the Ety's also fit on the Shure and are about the same size and that only the stem is shorter.
Now I wonder if it is worth trying the mod (I mean cutting away the smallest flange) on the Ety sleeves as well ? Or will they then go too deep in the ear, because of the shorter stem, which even resides inside the largest flange ?
Has anybody done it and with which result ?

It seems to me that you've already answered your own question by the results of your mod. to the Shure triflanges. Visualizing them modded laying side by side - do they not appear to be the same? Actually I (personally) haven't found any perceivable benefit to removing the small flange...........I use Ety er-6i.
