If that happened, it would be a bizarre course of events and somewhat ironic too since it seems that amp has been haunting you since you initially discovered it.

Ain't that the truth.

Quick question. Are the tube prices for the moth typically expensive?

Congrats on getting the amp. I love the look of it.

The 2A3's can be real pricey. Right now, John has a pair of Gold Pin EH 2A3's which are the same that I used in my Moth 2A3 amp. They are about $90 a pair.

That sounds kinda reasonable to me when you consider how much you need to spend on 6sn7's.

Those are the cheap ones. A pair of RCA 2A3's go for $160 a piece for example. An don't forget, I believe you need a matched pair which should push the price up even higher.
The best price including shipping, I found on the Emission Lab 2A3 solid plates was $360 for the matched pair. The TJ FullMusic 2A3 (matched pair) was $239 plus $18 for shipping. I've seen the NOS RCA Monoplate 2A3 range from $500 to high $600s.

As for the 6SN7s, I suppose if you want something decent you are looking at least $40 to $100 and then if you desire the better stuff $100 to the mid-$300s.

Yes, absolutely, the law of, "what goes aound, comes around." being fullfilled - in spades.

Here's my 2A3 monoblocks that I built a couple of years ago for my home system. 2A3s when done well are very sweet tubes. Built mine on solid copper chassis, with Magnequest iron, all high-end resistors, caps, wiring, etc.

<edit> because of the page break, I must add this for continuity:

Very impressive, indeed. Those are beautiful, and must sound delicious. Thanks for posting the lovely pics. Can we come over to your house for a listen?

man those mono blocks look stunning, what type of speakers are you using?
I have to agree, the mono blocks are beautiful! They kind of remind me of one of the Quicksilver mono blocks.

Right now using a pair of zHorns, backloaded single-driver horns. Adequate, but far from perfect. I really need a pair of AvantGarde speakers or Edgarhorns for a more complete sound and dynamics.
