Make me an offer for a near mint D-555 with original charge-holding battery + Li-Ion replacement, a spare optical pickup, original case, and a copy of the service manual.

If the offer is suitably ridiculously high, I might consider selling it.

Hello,

I recently found this exact model with the semi hard carrying case.

I have a 9v 600mv Sony AC adapter that charges the 3.2Volt rechargeable

battery. It  battery worked too! Unfortunately, the unit suffers from skipping

thru half of the first selections of the disc. Strangely, enought the last half

of the disc it plays flawlessly. I imagine the laser's linear tracking guide needs

to be cleaned and re-lubricated. Other than that, it's a MINT unit.

If interested, let me know and I do have a PayPal address you can send money

to when you reply. If you need pictures, I can supply if you are interested. Thank you.

Hello, I have both a Sony D-555(actually 3 in all) and a Sony D-35 too.

I'm keeping 1 D-555 and the other two have(also the D-35 too) the

dreaded SKIPPING disease. One D-555 is my original one I bought back

when they were available. It is MINT but I sent it to Sony back then to

repair in Mahwah,NJ(no longer there, they moved to PA). The sent it back

in the same condition I sent it to them to fix(under warranty). It now also

lack Audio. I'm sure either of the ones I have up for sale are fixable if

you can find someone to do the repair(I wouldn't suggest Sony since I don't

think their capable).

The D-35 SKIPS on the first 4-5 songs, but then plays flawlessly the

rest. It has the custom semi-hard case with it and the original 3.2 Volt

battery holds a charge too! I have a Sony 9 volt/600 milliamp AC adapter

for it too.

If interested, contact me at : jrscpu2004@yahoo.com

I have a PayPal account too.

Let me know.

I Fixed the Sony D-35. I once read a thread somewhere that the
freewheeling assembly that is attached to door cover can be the source of the skipping.
I placed a paper towel to protect the laser lens. I then sprayed two short sprays of lubricant called Super Lube(Dri-Film) at the mechanism that is supppose to freewheel on top of CD.
After doing this, the unit is Skip Free!! If any of you out there have this similar problem, give it a try!
I will probably end off keeping this model. I will also try this method on my Skipping D-555's just to prove out a theory here. I'll let you know if I get the D-555's working again.N

Hello again, The original Sony D-555 responed to the Super Lube Dri-film
lubricant immediately. It's amazing since it Never worked correctly from the day I bought it!
I tried it on the unit I bought from The Wiz too. It still skip's, but to a much lesser degree. I now have 2 working
Sony D-555's! If you unit skips give it a try!
