Is the hd25 also the hd25-1 that you guys are talking about?

I'm looking for my first expensive piece of headphone that is closed. I'm leaning towards the 280 because it's circumaural but does the 25s provide the same comfort with the supraural?

which one is better overall for an on the go ipod listener and laptop movies?

No, the HD25-1's are much better (and more expensive!) than the SP's.

I'd add the Beyer DT-250s to your list as well. I think they are better than the HD-25s, very even sounding, no harsh treble. They are reasonably good looking for a full can, but not as small as the HD-25s

SaintPanda did a huge and very useful review of all the main closed cans available, you should search for it.

The HD-25-1's and HD-25's are the same can. The HD-25-SP is a different can. The HD-25-1's are better but they both rock. The HD-25-SP is harder to drive even though it isn't as good as the HD-25-1. Lately there has been alot of love for the AKG K 81 DJ though so you might consider that too.(That was my 100th post. Not too exciting lol)

Oh yes, I also wanted to note that I prefer one where it somewhat cancels the outside world's sound such as the hd280 does.

and congrats on your 100th post!
