I am going to start the order finalization tomorrow. I received a check today for 2 cases. That leaves 3 cases unpaid, one of which I am told a check was mailed today. Even if the 3 cases were never paid for, I am now locked into my 6th tube so my hands are tied anyway. This was my goal for the payment phase.

Neil

I am the bad guy! Apologies, apologies and again apologies! I am indeed on holiday. I was told they had internet connection were I was going but it turned out they didn't even had a land phone line... Payment sent, don't hate me too much

Tap sizes

Neil,

To clarify, the screws that will be shipped with the ALUBOS case for the Cross-1 require a 4-40 tap, correct?

And to further clarify, the extra button head screws you offered up for the Hammond cases require a 6-32 tap? Or is the Hammond already tapped for 6-32?

Just needing to get my tools in order before the case arrives.

Thanx!

You are correct....

Bopla takes 4-40
Hammond takes 6-32

The hammond cases come untapped. They come with self tapping screws. if you are going to tap the Hammonds, you should NOT install the self tapping screws. That won't add any value to your later 4-40 tap. My first Hammond was tapped after the supplied self tapping screws were installed. I got a good tap, but I wouldn't tempt fate unless you already installed the screws.

When you tap the Hammond, try to tap it with the cover in place so that the cover gets tapped too. That will help to hold those screws in and otherwise make things a little smoother.

Status Update

Got a call from Bopla today- the cases are in the production queue. I'll update you again when I receive them. Things are moving forward.... now if only I could get my hands on that back ordered Lorin switch.....

Status Update - Good news-bad news

I received the cases on Monday - good news. Unfortunately the cutter confused which quantities went with each size. For example, I only received 1 4" case; everything else was 5" or 6". Bad news.

I briefly considered querying everybody to see if they would accept a larger case. In theory, we could have gotten some extra length for free. I decided that it would take a week to get all the replies back and I did not want anyone to feel pressured to take a size other than that which they ordered. Bopla wanted the entire shipment returned so it was one way or the other. I returned the boxes and they will cut a new set. I would expect to receive them next week but I was given no precise date. My contact at Bopla was profusely apologetic and indicated that the order would be expedited.

Neil

I did. I demanded $1,000 pain and suffering. They went for it.

Yea, Alex. You don't get your case until you order your parts

This just came to me, but do these come with rubber feet or do we need to get our own? I have a bunch, but I was just wondering if these ship like the Hammond cases.

Alex,

The only thing they provide is the extrusion. Hammond provides a complete case; this is very different. No feet, no front/rear panels, no hardware, etc. They do have an accessory list of panels and other items, but that was beyond the scope of what we are doing.

I am providing button head screws, of course. You provide your own feet.

Neil

No problem. I was just wondering for the sake of interest. I have more then enough feet.

Status Update - Cases Received; Shipping in Progress

I received the cases today and they look ok.

I shipped 8 4" single case orders today. The balance of the domestic orders should go out tomorrow. The international orders are another adventure. You should receive a USPS email confirmation when your case is shipped.

Please PM me (no need to fill this thread with confirmations) when you get your case so I know that it is received and in good order.

In most cases I will not be invoicing any final amounts until I have completed this process. That way I know my final costs for sure.

Regards,
Neil

I believe mine was one of the one's shipped out because I got a confirmation email from USPS. I will let you know when it comes in and post pictures. Thanks once again.
