Anybody know if the J.A. Mitchell record clamp http://www.needledoctor.com/s.nl/sc....it.A/id.932/.f
will fit on a technics 1200, bareing in mind that it has a felt mat not the stock rubber thing?

The Michell clamp uses a collet system, so it should work fine. Basically you put the record on the mat and then slip the clamp on top...twist the nut a 1/4 turn and it grabs a hold of the spindle snug. Two concers would be if the spindle is too long (it really can't be too short). The other concern would be if the spindle is a different diameter, but it should be standard...PM me if you really need to know and I will measure my Michell's spindle and report back to you.

Thanks very much for your input.
I have between 10mm and 12mm of spindle showing, depending on the thickness of the record and the felt mat bieng used.
Is this similar to that on michell TT?
