LoL!!! this is the second misunderstanding in this thread caused by someone being ironic/and someone not being very good at english!!

Anyway, just got home from a tiring trip to get the NAD 502. I'll hook up the receiver to do some listening later... Right now I'm too tired (hangovers)

I presume you must think Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" is for headbangers then...

AHhahaha!! Lol.
don't take me too seriously..
anyway I don't really like vanessa's voice and the song is Ok to me..
well... I don't know.. but eversince I own the beyerdt770, I find a few songs to sound really nice, because the bass is well integrated in the music(not like some other phones where the bass is a bit disconnected from the rest of music).they just sound very musical, tuneful to me.Love those quick, deep and tight bass in viva forever.Seriously, I think beyer dt770pro is one of the best for pop.

Please do not bash me. I am no audiphile and has only been recently introduced to head-fi(few months). My hearing is not as superb as some of you, therefore I can't really give a very accurate reviews/opinion that people may want(no credibility?). Take my words as grain of salts

btw anyone know any other u.s sellers of beyer headphones other than headroom?
MadDog,

Try B&H Photo: www.bhphotovideo.com

They are Beyer dealers and appear to carry the entire line, from mics to dj headphones to stereo headphones. Some items are special order and you pay when you order. On in-stock items, they have a decent return policy, and their prices cannot be beat.

LOL, at first I read that as "musical massage"! I'd say the DT770s are certainly capable of giving your head a massage!

Toe: Definitely yes, it is - and that's what disturbs me about the DT770Pro/250. The bass is so powerful, that it distracts me from the rest of the music.

Tomcat: Yes, together with the other Spring specials like Triumphator, Optimator et cetera, you can't go wrong with the Salvator - especially if you want to get drunk and really mean it. What I really don't like is Augustiner Edelstoff, because I get a headache every time - and by only one bottle (0,5 l)...

LOL you had to use beer for the example... That way Flasken is sure to understand!!

It feels like I'm a little child and you're trying to teach me adding and subtraction using winegums..

LINI,

I missed your response when I read the thread earlier... I was looking forward to hear your recomendation.

Jan Meier's favourite headphone is also the DT531, only he has modded it... Perhaps I could get him to do this for me when I order from him??

Flasken: Are you sure about Jan? I thought he liked the DT831 and DT931 best. Actually, I'm not even sure whether Jan has heard the DT531 at all, yet - and my memory brought up the names Snufkin and Solomon when it came to liking the DT531... Anyway: Don't forget about comparing the Beyers to the K240S!

I'd get the DT931 with the 120ohm adapter from Meier, but I think I probably already said this in another thread.

Lini,

You are right, Jan's favourite is a modded 931. My mistake.

kelly,

Why purchase a 120 ohm adaptor from Jan when I'll get the corda ha-1?? Is 240 ohm the best for the 931s??

Or did you miss that part of my post...

I'd get the adapter anyway so I could try the headphone in other amplifiers if the need came up.

It's probably just me, but I think the DT531 + creek obh11 combo sounds better than the 770pro with any of my amps

There's a couple of things that bug me about the 770pro - it's recessed midrange for vocals (john hyatt sounds like he's standing behind the band), the closed-factor (uncomfortable in hot weather), and they're not quite as comfy as the 531s.

I'm not bashing the 770pro at all, it's a great headphone - but I really do prefer the 531 when amplified and that goes for any combination (770pro/Mghead vs 531/mghead vs 770pro/creek vs 531/creek).

I'd avoid the 831 and 931, they're both great sounding headphones but I never find myself "rocking out" with them at all, the detail becomes far too distracting especially with not-so-well produced music or more harsh sounding stuff (autechre etc).

As far as the 990pro goes, I find the bass to be slower and less responsive than the 770pro.. which isn't a good thing when you've got as much bass as these headphones

Snuf,

(kind of a sick name when you think about it )

I changed my mind... I'm gonna get the DT531. I've read alot about it and was at point completely torn between that and the 770. But then I realised that better comfort plus uncoiled cord will definately make the 531 the better choice. If they sound better, so much the happier I'll get.
