I think the chances of this NOT being a scam are quite slim at this point.
Will head-fi be releasing ip address and any personal info?

EDIT: forgot to note that I also paid for the nano.

Why do you want his IP or personal info? His IP would only lead to somebody here attempting illegal actions towards him, attempting to harm him, or contacting his ISP to get personal info which is ridiculous. Head-fi most likely has only his ip anyway, and no personal info, so there isn't too much you can do.

If we have his personal info, we can file a police report. At least those inclined to go through the trouble. Thanks for asking.

Yes, but it'de be difficult with just an IP to get his personal infromation. His ISP will be very cautious, and probably refuse to give you his personal information.

Update: Still hasn't responded to my email yesterday and the one I sent this morning. Finding out he sold the same items to multiple people is worrying me now. I wouldn't go as far as hunting him down. I'm plannng on going through Paypal and my credit card...

I never said it would be easy or even possible. Just want to see what information is going to be available before deciding on the best course of action. What are you, his lawyer?

paypal will probably not refund ur money because most likely this person closed his account. but ur cc company might.

This might not be right...

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this or if its legal and even if it's real but this is what the seller gave me:

Haden Stephenson
807-32 Parkside Boulevard W.
Calgary, Alberta T2K 6A2
Canada

403-287-7946

It seemed real because I was really close to calling him.
I hope this helps.

Thank you. I don't know why everyone is worried about posting information on this guy. IP addresses' are not private. Some forums post your IP adress every time you post. It is not illegal to post one's IP address.

I also don't believe it is illegal to post someone's personal information on a web site either. It may not be morally correct and I would not like my address to be posted on a web site, but I would not give anyone reason to do so. If people won't answer emails and intentionally run with other people's money, then they need to be aware of the consequences. This guy has had every opportunity to do the right thing and communicate with the buyers at the very least. He has chosen to run and hide with others' money.

The best thing you can do is pool your resources, exchange information and get this guy to stop him from doing it to others. I am not condoning kicking the guy's ass, but contacting him and telling him the police are going to be involved is not a bad thing.

So far 3 of us have bought the same ipod. Anyone else? Let's get a check to see what everyone thinks they bought from him.

This bit of Canadian law might wake him up a bit:

"False or misleading representations
52. (1) No person shall, for the purpose of promoting, directly or indirectly, the supply or use of a product or ... any business interest, by any means whatever, knowingly or recklessly make a representation to the public that is false or misleading in a material respect.

(5) ... liable to a fine in the discretion of the court or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or to both; or (b) on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding $200,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year, or to both."

Since I'm not a buyer from this guy I wish the best of luck to everyone and maybe Head-Fiers from that province could help with the local police.

Amicalement

EDIT: I just checked.....the address is fake.
EDIT 2:

Reading this I'm wondering if it's possible to create a paypal account using:
1) A false identity,
2) A false location.

If positive on both counts....security on Paypal is a complete fumisterie....and I feel as a complete moron for my suggestion about getting help from Head-Fiers living in Alberta. Sorry for that.
