u can get someone's ip from an email sent to u by the person. and that's why i asked if ur allowed b/c i don't know about the legality of the topic.

if u get scammed, wouldn't u wanna help others from making the same mistake? but i do agree we should move this thread to the buyers/sellers area.

I think I got took.

I will keep everyone updated. I have received zero response to several emails and no sign the stuff was sent. I contacted paypal already but am afraid I know the answer.

Not good! When I first saw the ad, it raised a few red flags for me. He did have something in which I was interested; however, he never answered my pm, so I didn't pursue it.

I've never had to dispute a charge before. I hope my credit card company and paypal are forgiving...

Anyone heard back or received anything?

i hope everyone that bought something from this person paid with their cc, because pp won't be able to refund ur money if the seller has closed his account. Good luck to everyone involved.

Not good news

I wasn't nervous until I read this thread. I contacted him last Friday and again today but I've not had a reply yet.

I will give him another 36 hours before I take action.

If his silence means that he has screwed me (and others), then I'll find him. Rest assured.

I can never understand why people are often so patient with online sellers. The first and only time I was taken was because I waited way too long to pursue the $##$@ (shipping during 9/11)! Do it now! Take all the action you can. What is the worst that could happen? His feelings will be hurt because you thought he ripped you off? ACT NOW!!

Exactly, that's how i got screwed. Don’t wait, if there's no reply just file a complaint and if everything works out just cancel it.

As has been mentioned, WHY would anyone send off money to someone they do not know, who has just joined and is selling high priced items, without getting some sort of verified identity information of who they are dealing with?

Since the seller has for some reason removed their ad copy and hasn't contacted anyone, I'd say it appears you've been scammed. I would immediately contact PayPal, and if you read and followed the sticky thread regarding protecting yourself, contact your credit card company.

Also, who exactly made a transaction with this person? Would anyone who IS NOT DIRECTLY INVOLVED in this situation, please not post, as it confuses things.

i bought the busted 3g ipod for $65. did a search for this thread because i have heard anything either. he didn't respond to my PM's and everything was conducted via email. the last i heard from him was the 19th. a little worried, but lets consider things..

1. he's a new seller. he might not be as organized as some of us.
2. he lives in canada. he's shipping from canada via Canada Post Xpresspost.
3. he may not have declared the items as "gifts" so it may be taking a while to get through customs. i've had similar situations when recieving stuff from Canada or overseas.
4. he had pictures of the items. and he went to great lengths to make sure that i knew the condition of the ipod i got.
5. he does have previous posts to his for sale stuff, where he talks about the items he owns.

however..
negatives.
1. he took all the pictures and information off
2. he is new
3. he had a new paypal account made to recieve payments
4. he hasn't been back or responded to any of us in a while.
5. didn't provide tracking info.

i'm gonna give it another week..maybe 2. and if i don't hear anything from him or see a package, i'll take measures. if i get no luck i'll only have lost $65 myself

We're screwed

I also bought the broken 3g along with the Nano. I put in a paypal claim on 3/23. They wait 10 days for a response from the other party. I suspect my $190 is long gone but who knows.

The last time this happened I got my money from paypal six months later but still I did get my funds.

Ok looks like it's official to say we all got screwed, if you bought the broke 3G too. Selling the same item to two different people. I doubt he had two broken 3G 30GB ipods.

I just emailed the guy. Hopefully someone hears back from him soon. I'll give it a few days. If he's reading all of this, pls post for us. Thanks.
