large flange - one thicker than the other, ok to shave?

i noticed that the large single flanges that came with my 5pro's are uneven, where the rubber on one is thicker than the other, which makes it harder to seal and less comfortable when wearing them.

I'm thinking about taking an exacto knife and shaving a thin layer off the flange to make it thinner... is this a good idea?? anyone did this before??

You have to be very careful when you cut the flanges. The slightest tool marks left by the cutting instrument will lead to annoying ear irritation. even just an angled face left from a razor cut can wear through the delicate ear skin.
