Sleestack - wow - Andra IIs - an amazing speaker by all accounts although I have never listened to it myself.

those ARE georgous speakers, i wish i could afford a pair of the tower version.

Not sure I'd recommend Merlin for heavier rock listening...at least I didn't prefer them for that...try Revel M20's...not their latest M22 version. Really nice for rock in terms of a stand mounting speaker. Tighter quicker bass then the 805's but in the same family of low end performance.

I'd agree to the extent you want low end extension. The Merlins are closed unlike some monitors which are ported. Personally, I find that most monitors that use porting to create more extension do it at the expense of accuracy. When I use monitors adn want to get low end, I prefer coupling them with a proper sub setup. I had the Melrins running with a DD-15 through a TACT RCS2.2.X. The ability to flawlessly integrate the sub with the RCS really produced one of the finer full range experiences I have had, especially for rock.
