HEADAMP GSX #001 (Alaska size pics) - Page 7

Salt Peanuts...thanks a lot for your impressions. I've been eye-balling the gs-x for weeks now & your impressions (and Billy's, once he gets his cable) are extremely helpful.

ps, I found it interesting that you managed to get both the words "salt" and "peanut" mixed into your review...

Peace,

Graz

Good to see there will be another GS-X owner out there soon. From my serial number, I know there are at least eight other GS-X's out there, but haven't seem too many posts indicating as such (not sure if those are all Head-Fi memebers, though). Not that I can talk, since I hadn't really posted all that much about the amp since I had received mine.

When I receive mine, I'll do the best I can posting impressions and anything else, although I'm not quite as "technically proficient" as you and some of the other forumers around here are.

I want to be able to post something more meaningful than "OMG IT SOUDNS GREAT!!!"

There's a certain friend of mine that lives about 2.5 hours road trip away from me, on the other hand, that if I were able to get this piece of gear to him for a day...he easily could write up a review that would be far more meaningful, especially since he owns or has tried out a heck of a lot more hardware then I could dream of.

We'll see what happens...

I'm thinking about making a switch to solid state and the GS-X seems to be the one piece that meets all of my objective criteria. How long does one usually have to wait for build on one of these. Also, any recommendations for a maxed out configuration?

according to the headamp page the GS-X currently seems to a 3-4 week build time.

I don't think justin is doing any custom orders anymore, with the only options currently offered being a dedicated PSU for the gilmore lite and a stepped attenuator for the GS-1 (along with new modules for the GS-1 / GS-X coming out sooner or later which will replace the current ones), and he seems quite busy anyways trying to handle what orders he already has to be doing that sort of thing.

Thanks. I don't think I'll ever be able to let go of the SDS, but a reference SS rig would be nice.
