Justin does some really beautiful work. When I heard the GSX proto with the Meridian G08 connected by Cardas Golden Reference on my HD650s I was blown away. It definitely made me re-think solid state amps entirely. This amp was probably my favorite solid state amp at the So Cal Meet.

Balanced Billy - - with a wall of sound

Absolutely awesome stuff

but the VPI HW 16.5 seems a little out of place

I'm very interested to know bout the sound performances of this amp as I'm gonna getting a Gilmore balanced reference in a couple of weeks time ; which is the precursor of the GS-X and which should be yet one of the end-of-all solid state , so it would be very nice to know how these two compare .

Looks enticing! The 10,000 $ question: How much is it (ballpark)? I am interested in a balanced HD650 rig, which to me seems like the only option to get to another level over my current setup without stepping into second mortgage territory. Cheers, M.

That's not bad, considering I'd be saving on the HD650 (200 Euro here in Germany). Add another 200$ for a balanced cable (realistic?) and the setup would be only a couple of hundreds more than my current system. How much less was the intro offer? How long have they been offering the GSX? I am wondering about the preamp - are there any switchable inputs?

I think the GSX is a new offering. The serial number on Billy's is GSX-001 so I think this is actually the very first one. But I assume Justin of Headamp has quite a few in the pipeline ready to be shipped, if not already shipped.

That's what I was wondering. Was the intro offer only good during the design phase of the amp? At any rate, ayt999's right. At 1800$ it is still a great deal. Wonderful execution internally, top notch.

BTW I have found the input selector.

That's a excellent looking amp. The pairing with the G08 seeems like they were made for each other. When I eventually aquire a G08, this amp will be on the top of my list.

I was wondering, since the GSX comes with Dynalo modules and the modules are upgradable then does it mean that perhaps in the future you could upgrade to Dynahi modules?

the dynalo design uses +/- 15 volts, while the dynahi uses +/- 30 volts, so it won't be a drop-in replacement, but it isn't as simple as requiring a different PSU by a long shot. the components on a dynahi are much larger, nevermind that they generate a lot of heat and require large heatsinks (have you seen a dynahi?) so you'll need modules that are more complicated and probably have to be made up of several PBC's to fit within the predetermined area, nevermind having huge heatsinks on them to dissipate the heat, which will definitely require a different case, if they even fit at all.

so the short answer is no.

I can only assume that Justin was offering an intro price to those who pre-ordered before the GSX was actually ready to be shipped.
