If I wanted to get decent bass without boominess in a very small room about 10ftx12ft what is the lowest frequency cut off I should go for? I will have the speakers on the long wall which puts me nearfield to the speakers. I don't need super low bass just suffiecient bass to add richness and body to the music. I listen mostly to classic rock 60's,70's and 80's era. I also listen to some classical and jazz every now and then. I'm looking for someone to tell me a good cut off point for the bass and possibly an appropriate driver size.

It's very small player, so I like it. I have Clip+ since Christmas and I'm very satisfied!

First of all let me say this is one of my favourite BA driver earphones I have ever heard. That said, being a basshead, these didn't deliver in the bass department - I can't deny the fact...

I've had this card for quite a while now, and I have to say its a really nice card - a huge step-up to my on-board motherboard's audio. At first I do have to admit, it didn't feel like the D1...

whats up tom,
mid to low 40s is plenty since you'll get most of your double bass and some solidity without overloading the room. be wary of room nodes and pick up speakers that roll off gracefully and without calling too much attention to themselves - quickness of bass guitar will easily compensate for the lack of depth in a small room (in otherwords, look for a driver that can recover easily over a larger one that will move lots of air).
throw out a price range, associated gear, and exactly which groups and artists you dig and you may be able to get some more specific information.
best,
carlo.

I'm not sure I agree with the concept that there is a lowest frequency. I mean you do have problems with controlling it, but I have like 4 "bass busters" (bass traps for corners of rooms) and I highly recommend treating your room. But if you want to get really fancy, you can utilize your room as another resonance (or two or three) for the purpose of "tuning" your speaker's bass response.
I have a similar size room, and I go pretty low -- I have a Sunfire True Sub Jr. (23Hz, -3db, I think, going from memory, feel free to look it up).
