Bah, I've got sophomore jinx when it comes to the Etys. First time I tried, I got the rubber tips in no problem. Sounded awesome! Haven't been able to duplicate the feat since. So I use the foamies, w/ which I have absolutely no problem getting a good fit, and they are somewhat more comfortable to me. I don't think the foamies sound quite as clear, but they're still clearer than most other headphones.

Whoo hoo! Just got my etys...

Anyways, how do you know when you get a good seal? I keep on inserting them in all different ways and the sound seems to be the same... I wonder if I am getting a good seal all the time, or just never getting one. It isolates VERY well though.

Hm wow, just put my ER-4S into my 5mw portable and it can actually drive it to acceptable volumes... looks like I have a new portable headphone already

I'll still need a DIY/DBSE amp eventually...

Chych: I'm sure you know this but it's not the volume that suffers with a 5mW amp; it's the quality. I often listened to my Etys directly out of a portable, and they sounded quite good and plenty loud. But once I plugged them into a dedicated amp... woohoo!

Just a little update... I've been using this portable system at school the past week, and it's amazing! The batteries in my amp died yesterday though, and it was weird. Lots of distortion before it finally went out, I thought something was wrong with the ety's at first

Anyway, so I listen out of the headphone jack of my cd player...EW! It was horrible. The loudest volume was listenable, but sounded horrible. I'll always have extra batteries from now on
