What is your most pricey piece of music?

I know, you can't truly judge the worth of music with cash, but let's say you're holding it in your hand and asking someone to pay for it. What would it go for?

I know it's an odd question, especially from someone like me who usually trashes their collection just to listen to it, but I recently found out one of the ones I have is worth a pretty penny - Move Over, Antiques Roadshow!

So what do you have that could resell at a nice price?

I used to own a DVD copy of the Tool 'Salival' box set, which is now out of print and goes for over a hundred dollars on EBay. Originally cost between 20-30 dollars. Sold mine more than a year ago.

I own an original copy of Earphoria by the Smashing Pumpkins. Dunno of the current value, but I paid $160 for it a few years back so it should be worth a bit more now.

The first few that come to mind - all box sets, no longer available:

1. Complete Blue Note Recordings of Albert Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis - Mosaic (2 CD's)
2. Duke Ellington Centennial Edition: Complete RCA Victor Recordings: 1927-1973 (24 CD's)
3. Grateful Dead Fillmore West 1969 Complete Recordings (11 CD's)
---------------------
Total eBay value, I'd guess about $1200 for this stuff.

Don't think I have any really valuable single CD's. Some have great value to me personally, though, like my autographed Michel Petrucciani and Gene Harris CD's (neither of whom is with us anymore ).

I thought Giles Reave's Wunjo would worth a small fortune. I am wrong: the usual eBay price is just $25-30. I'm right in paying just $5 for a copy.

I dont really have much, some "Rare" CDs but nothing overly expensive

White Zombie - Make them Die Slowly
Ambeon - Fate of a Dreamer (sells on amazon for $50-60, but i know where to get it at a normal price)
Darzamat - In the Flames of Black Art, Original Pressing FP004

The ones that are valuable and have the widest appeal....

DCC's 24K gold CD of Van Halen's self-titled debut album

DCC's 24K gold CD of Elvis' "24 Karat Hits"

Otherwise, I have some Hong Kong pop CDs from the 80s that have asking prices between US$40.00 to US$200.00 on auction sites.

That's funny, I have that on cassette somewhere. I can't even remember why I bought it, but I was on a small new age kick back in the late 80's. I wonder if that's still around somewhere. I think I may have heard it on that radio show Hearts of Space.

KMFDM - NAIVE (original recalled "Orange" version on Wax Trax!)

The God Machine - ONE LAST LAUGH IN A PLACE OF DYING

Two things that were worth a lot, but not anymore due to reissues:

Coil - LOVE'S SECRET DOMAIN (orig. Wax Trax!)

Slowdive - PYGMALION

I probably have some valuable classical things, due to being out of print, but I have no idea what they are as I have not tried to sell any of them recently.

Add: Metallica - MASTER OF PUPPETS DCC 24K Gold. I wish I would have picked up RIDE THE LIGHTNING while it was available. The original cd issue sounds like ass.

Queens of The Stone Age did a 4 track split cd with Beaver, seen it go for over $40.

I have Beaver's album called 'Mobile' which is worth around £30, or $60, well I paid that much for it a while ago from eBay.

I don't know what my various recordings are worth, but I do know that I have spent the most money on my various sets of Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen.

It is my understanding that they remastered these unobtrusively. You may want to investigate hearing a more recent issue -- don't know how to tell the difference, though.
