Swan M200 Help

Hey fellas,

I'm using the EMU 0404 and Swans M200, can anyone tell me why the bass is so weak? I"m coming from UE5c so I was hoping it could have similar bass? I've read the the bass is generally weak on the swans, but have no idea it was this weak. Any suggestions?

Compared to an Audigy2, AV-710 & X-Fi, the 0404's bass does sound incredibly weak with the M200s. Maybe it's because of the weak line output? I dunno.

The Audigy line of sound cards are programmed with higher LF than other sound cards. I believe this is kind of Creative's way of saying "People love bass, so lets give them more" though thats just my speculation.

I would try using the equalizer to push the LF up a little. And as always, adding a subwoofer to a loop of bookshelf speakers almost always makes up for what the speakers cannot produce on the low-end.

Line level volume matching is definitely an issue with the M200, which seems to have been made for higher output sources. When I tried switching my soundcard to an old Aureal Vortex 2 soundcard from my current SBlive Audigy 2, the volume dropped so dramatically that it was impossible to use. So you're probably just going to have to crank things up. One thing to note, I have found the M200's bass to be much better just by dialing the bass knob to the 1 o'clock position. When it's flat, it is a bit on the weak side.

I just cranked it up a lil bit, but it's still a bit weak. I think I might just go with a sub to help it out. My trance music is lifeless with these speakers.
