Do Shure Yellow Foamies fit Ultimate Ears?

I'm asking because I just called my local Guitar Center and I the conversation went like this:

Me: "Do you carry Ultimate Ears"
GC: "Yes, you need the 3 or 5pro?"
Me: "I have the 5pro and was looking for the foam tip replacements."
GC: "I've got em, they're yellow, made by Shure."
Me: "Oh, not by UE? Are you sure they'll fit?"
GC: "Yeah, they're universal..."

So I'm just wondering if
1) this guy was telling the truth or if I'm going to be screwed out of $20
2) in the event they *do* fit, are the yellow foam Shures better than the grey ones that came with the Ultimate Ears?

I'm hoping to get out to Guitar Center tomorrow so any advice you can give me in a quick fashion is much appreciated!

None of the available Shure sleeves will work on any Ultimate Ears products. The Guitar Center person you spoke with is unfortunately mistaken.

Just for clarification: by universal we mean that they are not custom sleeves.

Thanks very much, Sugarfried! Saved me a trip to GC and some anguish over getting screwed over by the salesguy. FYI, in case your company cares, it was the Guitar Center in Hollywood, CA that gave the mistaken information.

Thanks again, and I look forward to your E500 offering. My wallet, however, hates you

My shure e2g foamies (orange ones) seem to fit my roomates super.fi 3's with no issues. Probably don't fit as well as they do for mine.. but he hasnt had any complaints.

schapman, doe syour roommie prefer the feel of those to the original grey ones that came with his super.fi? Can you ask what his impressions are (differences/better/worse)?

Many thanks!

EDIT - I also see, looking on the web, that the E2G have a different nozzle size than the rest of the EXC, that may be why those orange ones fit and the yellow "universal" ones (which look like the hole opening is smaller) won't.

The E2c sleves and the 5Pro sleves interchange just fine. The yellow ones that go on the higher quality Shures probably dont. The orange e2c sleeves are much softer than the ones that come with the 5pro.

Be careful using the orange foam on the UE nozzles (or rather, 'stubs'?). The UE nozzles are about half the length of the E2/E2c/E2g nozzle, and therefore do not engage as much. Acoustic properties could change, and the sleeve may not adhere to the nozzle very well. The UE nozzle is thicker than the E2 nozzle, so if you wedge the orange foam on there it may stay on tight enough.

Thanks for the info. I notice there are 3 sizes of the orange foam, but when buying online you have to choose a 10-pack of either the small, medium or large. Not having owned the E2c, I don't know which size I'd prefer.

Anyone know of any vendors that sell like a "starter pack" with all 3 sizes?

Thanks!

If you had used the foam that ships with the UE 5pro and if it fit you then the medium orange sleeve should suit you fine.
