Anyone ever try a Parasound 1500 DAC?

Has anyone here ever heard a Parasound D/AC 1500? I've got my eye on a heavily modded one @ Audiogon, but there isn't too much info out there about them. How would something like this compare to a newer DAC in the $200-400 range?

BTW, I already called dibs

It's an older design, but Parasound digital tended to sound very smooth. It may be a good buy at that price.

Sweet I'm looking for a smooth sound, and with those Blackgates + 627s it should be ultra smooth.

OK, I just got an email back from the seller, and was told this model is the same as the D/AC 1600hd , without the HDCD circuitry. He also stated that it will only accept 16bit info, and since I'm new to DACs and digital signals I have no idea if the 1212m would work with it. Anyone know??

Damn, the 1212m's digital out is 24-bit/96kHz... I'm guessing this won't work?
