Just forget about the original back-piece, put on some epoxy...
Hi Oliver,

Please send me a link to this so I can check it out.

Thanks,

I've often wondered whether people caught my double entendres. Apparently, they do, so pardon my wail of despair: Aye, Genital Carumba, commander of iPod-sporting Privates! I shall have to clean my mucous gun repeatedly while wearing the Pulsating Cap of Shame!

Odd that you should mention colorware(TM). I'd just been looking at that option myself, since the prices are now lower for the older models. Was the Pod you received of the two- or one-color variety?

I'd also been wondering which stage should come first, the coloring or the modding. I'd also wondered whether the mod might result in scratches.

This means that, for me, the stages of pod-upgrading will be threetuck: (1) sending my hoary 3G out for a battery upgrade, so that I'll have something to ear in the whinemeal; (2) sending the 4G to colorware; and (3) having them send the gaudified gimplet to you.

I keep worrying you'll have had enough of modding before my butch orange iPod arrives.

By the way: What sort of skins (transparent 3M wrap -- I'm not talking about Lajoesque silicone) are people using to protect their 60 GB Photos? None of the companies I've checked seem to offer skins that large.

Edit: Darn, I got in too late on the joke.

Hi scrypt,

The colorware iPod that I modded was a dark purple (kind of metallic) and the click wheel was black.

It is best to have the coloring done first, and then colorware can ship it directly to me for the iMod. The iMod does not result in any scratches.

Best regards,

Vinnie

I should also mention that, when I checked him for rickets a few weeks back, a spokesmoan for the company stammered that the colorware(TM) treatment eradicated all scratches from the pale torso and transparent looksquare of one's iPud. Thus, if you've been lusting over your 4G and it now requires drastic cleaning, know that colorware(TM), while pricey, will do the job of erasing all evidence of a job.

Alright, now you REALLY gotta lay off the innuendos, or we'll have to rename this place "PR.0N-FI"...

Anyway, thanks to all who posted their impressions. My wallet doesn't thank you though.

I have decided to get my second iPod iModded. I had originally decided to leave one with a owrking hephone out, but the improvement is such with the iMod that in reality I don't use the un-modded one. This will leve just the Nano that can be used un-amped, but that is fine with me. the iMod is worth it!

I was amazed by how good it looked! I didn't even know about this company (I need to get out of my bubble)....they do really nice work.
darn you Vinnie ! you stole my thunder announcing it before I did ! *kidding*

here's a quick shot for the curious -

its a little darker and less sparkly without the flash

i was really pleased with the way it came out - although their website doesn't list it any more, colorware's 'process' involves an auto grade paint treatment and 2 x clear coating. a little hardier than apple's original covering - and quite a lot prettier too i chose a 2-color combo, main body being "prowler" and the wheel being "jet black". there is also a metallic black which they call "carbon", but i wanted the glossy contrast

as for the sonics ... i'm pretty damn impressed so far. there's just so many small aspects of the SQ that have improved, adding up to a more immersive, smooth listening experience ! And this has been unamped, with lossy (albeit EAC/Lame) mp3s ! Applying an Invisible Shield right now, so I'll report back tomorrow once its loaded with ALAC songs and connected into the home stereo setup

Thanks a bunch Vinnie !

Permit me, primatedeity:

Are you using any sort of external battery pack and case with your Monster Camaro Monterey Motor Show glitterPod? If so, which actually fit?(!)? Also: Where in the glimmering webbed firmament are you finding an Invisible Shield tailored to the 60 GB Photo?

I've been looking for cases for the Phot 60 (Agent or Contour), but the ones that fit our model have been discontinued. My attempt to buy a SHCASEPH02 on Amazon seemed to work until weeks later, when the inventory proved unventory. Alack, and where's my glittering liqueur?

The BPO batterypack ii seems not to fit the 60 GB at all without damaging the finish, which is why I refrained from picking one up at an outlet store for $45 (on the web, they sell for $79 and up). Someone at the store allowed me to open one of the packages: after a single day's sporting of the BPO, your sparkly audiophile roadshow device would bear more stab wounds than St. Sebastian in that Rubens painting frequently ogled by Mishima. (Personally, I ogle Goya's painting of Saturn, but that just reflects my taste in CUVs (Carnage Ubiquity Vehicles).)

it is good that you come to me in humble supplication, o avatar of the written word ...

is it not said that when in doubt, you should return to the source of your troubles ?

http://www.shieldzone.com/form/index...ey=APL605060GB

unfortunately, the same strategy cannot be employed when the source dries up (as is the case with the mysterious disappearance of contourcase.com) - so then we must ask ourselves, who has consumed all the water ?

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL....8.25.7.11.1.3

lastly, while i do not often need the extra hours of energy that an external battery pack provides (having matters of cosmic consequence to occupy my attention), i have used this gadget with some success -

I just bought a G4 Photo to send to Vinnie for modding and I noticed that when it is on it gets a bit warm, not hot, just a bit warm. Is this normal for a G4 unit? The reason I ask is that I have 2 G5 Video units and they do not get even the sightest bit warm, cool as cucumbers. So, if this is normal for a G4 fine, but if not, I want to replace it before sending it off for the Imod. Thanks.

Duh!

Boy do I feel stupid. I just realized that it got warm while the battery was charging. As soon as that was complete it went back to being as cool as the other ones.

Buy a good headphone instead...

Your IMOD will break if dropped. Or if the disc goes. What's the real reason he won't work on 5th generation? Is it too small?
