No, it's not some new German speed metal band...it's a great website.

Bill Graham, the old concert promoter, apparently has a whole basement full of live reel-to-reel tapes of all sorts of good stuff. I'm talking about old live tracks from Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, Steppenwolf, Quicksilver Messenger Service, James Taylor, Taj Mahal, Bruce Springsteen, Lighthouse, The Staple Singer, Elvis Costello, Led Zepplin....and that's just in the last little bit.

There's some talk that a lot of this stuff might be available for download or on CD's. That would be great...it's all raw live concert feed, and it sounds GREAT!! I'm loving this, and just HAD to pass it on. Best of all...it's FREE!!!

My best friend was telling me about this, but I had forgotten. Thanks for the thread to remind me.

NPR did a story on this about six months ago, interviewing the person who runs the vault. They recently did a follow up story on "Wolfgangs Vault" a couple of weeks ago, discussing some legal snags that had been encountered, since they want to expand beyond "streaming" and start a download program.

SUPERB! Many thanks for the link

I hear d the recent NPR story as well, wrote the web site down, and promptly forgot it. Thanks to this thread I just listened to Cream from 1968 and now onto Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young circa 1970. Great!

I was just revisiting this site after being away for a while, and it's really improved IMHO.

They have the concert stuff all located in one place - Wolfgang's Concerts - on the site. They also have a Top 40 Concerts location, and a place to save your favorite concerts. I'm listening to the #1 concert right now - The Who from April 6, 1968 @ Filmore East (NY).

It does require registration to listen to the concerts now. I suppose that I'll probably receive more spam now, but what the heck.

If they start a download program, that will be AWESOME! Some incredibly classic shows on there!!! A buddy of mine who has a particular interest in Fillmore East reels met with the tape archivist over at WV and got a tour of the place, said they have 2-3,000 reels

If they get that show on the road, look out!
