Tangent's website error message

Thread Starter
Is anyone else getting the same 403 error message that I am getting when trying to visit Tangent's homepage? I just got my parts for my CMOY amp today and went to his page to check out the layout diagram and got stalled by that error message. Does anyone else have a copy of the pdf file for the layout?

By the way the site is excellent tangent.

Sorry, but my site is down at the moment. I've called support at my ISP, and they're working on it. With any luck it will be back up tonight; tomorrow for sure.

Welcome to head-fi Snoopdog. I noticed Tangents site was down too. I wanted to order a META 42 v2 board. oh well.

As for the CMOY info, you can go here. Words straight form the man who designed the cmoy.

Hope that helps.

And you're right. Snoop Dog is ugly!

Those of you with boards who need the assembly instructions and such can do a Google search and click on the "Cached" link. They've got a reasonably up-to-date copy of my web site.

Ordering will have to wait on my ISP to fix the problem, since that relies on an extension to the web server itself.

I'll announce it here when the site is back up.

Thanks for your patience through this outage, all.

heh, trying to assemble my meta and never printed out the schematic. i guess i'll blindly choose resistor values and hope they work. at least parts are easy as hell to swap on pcb

Patience, Taffy. I highly doubt this problem will take long to resolve.

Want to order parts...

You don't have permission to access /audio/meta42/ on this server.

And this happened on 9/11 too. Hope your site's back up soon!

I don't think Osama's behind this particular problem.

I'm getting rather annoyed now -- it's coming up on 36 hours of down time. They could have replaced the entire server and restored from backups in this kind of time....Grrrr....

I am sure Tangent will handle orders via e-mail while his site is being fixed.

Give it a try!

I am able to access the site as of 9/13 3:40 pm MST.

Yes, the site's back up now. Thanks to all for your patience.

One of the reasons it took so long to get this fixed is that the server my site lives on isn't at my ISP's main location so just sending out a tech to the server takes hours. I'm having the site moved to a different server so any future outage can be fixed quicker. This changeover should be transparent.

still down?

Is the site still down? I haven't been able to access it for the past couple days.
huh, good question. Is the site being moved? Or is the server down?

The site was up for a few hours on Friday after I wrote the previous message. Then it got killed again.

The ISP staff left the transfer half-completed on Friday without telling me: they left my local DNS server in charge of tangentsoft.net, but also had their central server configured to answer for tangentsoft.net. Friday night, thinking that everything was in place for the transfer, I told the Internet's main DNS servers about the move. Now they started getting "authoritative" answers from both servers, and because the answers conflicted, the root DNS servers refused to believe either answer. (It's one way the Internet actively protects itself.) If I had a brain in my head, I would have waited to make the move until Monday when Clueful People were in the office. I could have yelled and screamed at my ISP to make them bring someone in off their weekend to fix it, but it was my error at root -- I should have left well enough alone. Live and learn...

So now the deal is this: the site is really back up again, in its new location. For the moment, you will need to use "www.tangentsoft.net" only -- if you use plain "tangentsoft.net", you get redirected to the mail server. I've made sure that my ISP understands that this is a bug, not a feature, so they will be sorting that out tomorrow morning. (A few hours from now, actually.)

All of the audio articles, graphics, etc. are up again. The ordering page is still broken at the moment, but this should be fixed tomorrow, too.

Thanks again for your patience during this ****-up. Here's to 1 more year (at minimum!) of continuous uptime.

FYI, Tagent, I still can't access the site using www.tangentsoft.net.
