The site was up for a few hours on Friday after I wrote the previous message. Then it got killed again.
The ISP staff left the transfer half-completed on Friday without telling me: they left my local DNS server in charge of tangentsoft.net, but also had their central server configured to answer for tangentsoft.net. Friday night, thinking that everything was in place for the transfer, I told the Internet's main DNS servers about the move. Now they started getting "authoritative" answers from both servers, and because the answers conflicted, the root DNS servers refused to believe either answer. (It's one way the Internet actively protects itself.) If I had a brain in my head, I would have waited to make the move until Monday when Clueful People were in the office. I could have yelled and screamed at my ISP to make them bring someone in off their weekend to fix it, but it was my error at root -- I should have left well enough alone. Live and learn...
So now the deal is this: the site is really back up again, in its new location. For the moment, you will need to use "
www.tangentsoft.net" only -- if you use plain "tangentsoft.net", you get redirected to the mail server. I've made sure that my ISP understands that this is a bug, not a feature, so they will be sorting that out tomorrow morning. (A few hours from now, actually.)
All of the audio articles, graphics, etc. are up again. The ordering page is still broken at the moment, but this should be fixed tomorrow, too.
Thanks again for your patience during this ****-up. Here's to 1 more year (at minimum!) of continuous uptime.
