Are those yours? Well i can tell you they are NOT the new version. Look at the chamber of the new one:


If i were you I would contact them... Looks quite suspicious to me...

EDIT: I have the "vintage" version and the chamber is the same as yours, but mine ends on 1/4'' plug. You might want to look at the color of the back of the driver. Check below the number to see what color it is.
EDIT 2: Was the box sealed?

No, I didn't think they were the new ones, the housing is totally different. I just thought it was strange for the cable to terminate in a mini.

Although, it's hard to see through the screen the back of the driver appears to be black, kind of a purplish black.

And yes the box was sealed, and it appears to be completely legit. I recently bought a pair of MS1s and the boxes are identical except for the label.

yeah the color of the driver matches with the usual color of the drivers from sr225. If i am not wrong, sr60 and sr80 models had different color.

In that case (and i believe now you are a bit worried, sorry for you pal ) you might want to wait for other sr225 users, because maybe there was a version of sr225 with 1/8'' plug...

I hope you got the real deal, though.

UPDATE: I couldn't wait any longer so I picked up the phone and called Grado. They said that my SR225s are completely legitimate. Apparently there was a period of time when they could only provide mini plugs and so that is how they went out. They said there is absolutely nothing wrong, it's just how it was for some period of time.

Actually I kind of like it, I don't have to use the adapter most of the time. Not sure if mini->1/4" is less desirable then 1/4"->mini, but I guess I'm stuck with them. :-)

225 come with the big 3.5mm right? why does he have 2.5mm on his headphones

Well bps, thanks for your response, that is good to know. Personally I never knew they had a version with 1/8'' plug. Anyways i prefer the 1/4'' one, as I have a headphone home amp and it fits without any connector

I wonder, if one was so inclined, if Grado would cutom make a set of 225's with the miniplug? The reason I ask is because I enjoy my SR80's so much through my portable, maybe the 225's would sound even better and I would not need the adapter...?

Anybody try the MS-1000 mod with the 225s, a '2k25'?

I just ordered some distancers, so was thinking about slapping on some GS-1000 pads.

You could just reterminate it to a mini switchcraft or something.

I have distancers coming in, but didn't think to buy the salad bowls. I don't know if I want to based on reviews.

was there a separate review concerning distancers and 1k pads with 225s?

Searching, I only found distancers w/ regular pad, and the MS-1000 thread doesn't have any mention of 225s (as i remember)

The creator of that mod did say that the mod was not as worth while on Grado's than on Alessandro MS-1/ MS-PRO. I believe it was tried on a SR80 with not really a great result.

As per moon audio, the Sr225i have been shipping since January this year but still comes in a 225 box without an "i" and will until they run out of boxes.

I just ordered an Sr225i from Moon audio and i should get it this week. Im now a little concerned if im getting a Sr225 or the newer i version.

Did anyone else get their Sr225i in January???
