Just got my SR225s from TtVJ... lo and behold, they're the 225i?!

cool. do you like your 225i lon420?

The new design looks cool, let's see how it sounds...i'm happy with my "old" 225 so far...

I'm still trying to put together my first impressions, but with about 2 hours of headtime, I'm pretty pleased so far... they're my first pair of Grados I've personally owned (only listened to the 60 before these 225) Highs aren't as shrill out of the box as I thought they'd be, but I guess that was always a characteristic of the 225, huh?

I think I can comment on build quality, though. The cables are heavy duty, being very thick and robust. The bowls are a new type of pad for me... I actually think they're actually quite comfortable! ...the ES7/ESW10 must have prepared my ears for them :P But overall build quality is nice - The new 325 style shell looks great, if not a bit plasticky. Overall, the 225i seems very well built.

Is there anyone that as 225 and 225i and can compare them?

Spent a lot of time with the 225i yesterday and can say I didn't find them particularly bright or dark really. I'm naturally inclined to the darker side of things. While they are still burning in, they sounded good with much of my music, the imaging to me was a little hard to pinpoint on some tracks. I'm going to hook it up to a better source then my echo indigo IO because I have a feeling that that is where the problem lies right now.

Would LOVE a comparison between 225 and 225i.

WOW !!! I didn't even realise the 225i were on sale yet, did you order a 225 and get lucky or did you order the "i" version ?

I bid on the SR225 that Joe Grado brought for the silent auction and these turned out to be the improved version. Joe was even nice enough to sign the package for me. I got lucky.

Just ordered the 225i from Todd and will compare with my 225. One will go and one will stay, should have them by the end of the week. If anyone else has comments please post them!

Woohoo, I can't wait to see your review I've had my SR-225's for about 6 months now and couldn't bear to get rid of them. My kid's are going to get a nice pair of "vintage" headphones some day!

Now, to start saving for the PS1000...

Which is what I should be doing instead of messing around with the 225's. After some burn in I'll compare and see if there are any significant differences and post my findings in a seperate thread. Might be a week or so as I have some difficulties at home, a busy few weeks at work, and other "distractions". Someone will likely beat me to the punch which is fine. I just have to know for myself....
