It does have more bass...I have heard the SR 60 and SR 225 from the same amp and music. Much more bass, more impact, more depth...

How does 225's compares to SR80? I'm planing an upgrade.

So guys, a good HP to complement my HD650's as a guy who listens to pretty much anything and everything? I'm looking at SR225's

I would say (as i have tried both and own sr225), that the sr225 does all that sr80 but better, and it is definitely worth the money

Well i feel i have to write again. Now after 3 weeks of use, my bowls are starting to "remember" the shape of my ears, and they are as comfortable as never before

Then i have been burning in the headphones whilst listening to them, and I can confirm that the sound changes to better. I cut my hair too, in order to listen to music without any annoyance (like hairs causing rattle on the drivers)

I like so much the sound that this babies deliver, that when i put my shure se-210 to sleep i think they sound boring, they lack bass 8more than never), and the only way to listen to them with more joy is putting the fiio E5 in between (now i have to change it to a new one because volume control for E5 is broken -and it has less than a week, think i got a faulty unit :S)

I plan to keep this as long as they live, for how long have you guys kept your sr225s? Or even better, how old are your sr225s?

Like yourself Bullseye I just got my 225's- picked mine up on December 23rd. Before that I've used sr60's for a few years but finally made the move to upgrade after finding this site. Still running them in obviously but love the sound so far. Recently got a Pro-ject amp for my home set up as I'm running them straight from my iPod. It's amazing what sound you can get from just an iPod with a bit of decent gear. It's a good feeling impressing family and friends who've never heard good headphones before as well. I plan on keeping mine a long time.

Just thought I'd add Bullseye - have you tried the tape mod on your bowls? I tried it today and will be sticking with it. Bass is definitely improved ( tested with some Prodigy tracks ) and for some reason I have noticed a ( very slight ) improvement in comfort. The tape easily removes without messing up your bowls if you're not happy. Give it a go - I'm sure you'll love it.

Yeah I tried the tape mod. On the second week. I didn't enjoy it that much. I felt the mids sounded a bit muffled with it. Maybe I didn't correctly put the tape over the bowls, or it was the slight increase of the bass that made me think that way. I removed the tape carefully causing no damage to the bowls.

I also noticed that the headphones seemed to get warmer with the mod, or maybe I was getting used to the bowls. Now without the mod I love the sound they deliver. I listen mostly to Metal, so i don't miss any more bass. I think it is already punchy enough for my tastes. Plus when I want more punch I use Fiio E5 with Bass boost (well i used, now volume control finally stopped working and I have to wait for this chinese new year to finish, to see if Dealextreme changes it to a new one) I am using E3 meanwhile.

They are still too new for me to try any blu-tak mod, but when I decide i want more, before looking for any other 'phone I will try it. I doubt the change will be very significant, however if the sound does change to good, when i feel i want to upgrade I will try it and they will live longer

Even if I get a new pair of headphones I plan to keep this, this Grado sound is addictive

Bought used from jinp6301, who had fitted them with HeadCoverage mahogany cups. Jeremy (fatman711) of HeadCoverage (now JMoney Audio) threw one of his V2 leather headbands into the pot free of charge, I just paid for shipping, great guy, and the reason for his kind gesture? Simple: "every wooden grado deserves a leather headband".
The headband will most likely be fitted this weekend, so this picture is mostly just for the reference.
