Ultimate ears (how to insert them in your ears)

Hi,

Just bought the Ultimate Ears super fi 5.

How far in the ear canal are they supposed to go. Are they supposed to go right in the ear canal or just so they are in your ear and touching the ear canal.

If you get what i mean they are in the ear so you can't see the tip if you are looking in a mirror but it doesnt go into your ear canal futher that say you could put your finger for example.

Is this right, or should they go futher, if i lift my ear out and to the side, i can get them into the ear canal with the small tips on but they tend to be pushed back out quite quick when i let go of my ear ?

Any advice would be welcomed,

Anyone,

They kind of sit in my ear, never really feel that secure, too much movement will make them lose the slight seal i get with them and background noise becomes more apparant.

Maybe my ear canals are just too small for these types of headphone

I mean they never really go into what i would call the ear canal, say if you were cleaning you ear with a cue tip cotton wool thing, that goes into your ear canal but these in my ears tend to sit in only as far as your finger could go into your ear, not in my case into the ear canal.

Are they worth it for me or am i going to miss out on sound quality ?

Only had them a couple of days, just dont know

I've never owned any UE's -- so I can't really help. Surely someone on here can lend a hand...

Busy watching super bowl. I found my best seal was with the smallest rubber tip. They go into the ear, but not nearly as far as my ER-6s.

Picture here.

As you can see, the whole body is out of the ear, just the tip inserts.

I hadn't realized they extended so far. That's interesting. Looks a lot like a pair of ety's when inserted wrong.

Yeah, my ER-6s insert all the way, just like ear plugs. The other day I was working in some tunnels under a building. I wore the super.fis all day, 9 plus hours. No discomfort, great sound, and I couldn't hear the steam pipes constantly hissing. It was great.

The first thought that ran into my mind was "only on head-fi" when I saw that picture.

I took that picture about a month ago when somebody was asking how far they stuck out. I'll bet I've posted it half a dozen times since then.

My ER-4s don't stop till they hit my brain. I find the triflange quite comfy... although I'll admit that after about 3-4 hours my head starts feeling like its full of cheese. I'm not sure why cheese... but that is the feeling I usually get: soft cheese.
