DAPs with Digital Out?

I hadn't realized that DAPs with digital out existed until I read the Micro Stack thread. The H120 looks good, but it seems kind of out-dated and hard to use (No sort of scroll wheel or anything). Are there any other DAPs with digital out? I read something about this "Neuros" thing in another thread, but I couldn't find anything good when I googled it.

The H120 isn't that hard to use, and with the rockbox firmware it is still one of the best DAP's out for music.

I can't think of any other players with optical out off the top of my head, but that neuros thing would be the neuros 3 probably, which isn't out yet, not sure if it will have a optical out.

But to use RockBox don't you have to flash the firmware and potentially risk ruining the player altogether (I'm not sure if I have deep enough pockets for such a risk)? Also, don't I lose the SRS-WOW feature of the iRivers with RockBox?

Many people have flashed their iRivers with Rockbox, and I dont think there has been one problem yet.

The sound quality of the H1xx players is good enough that you dont need SRS-WOW to make the music sound good.

iriver isn't hard to use. Though you might have to get use to the file tree/thumbstick if you're coming from an ipod or something. I've tried rockbox, and it's both easy to install and remove. Though the [old] build I had at the time was really buggy, so I ditched it. Kept the bootloader.

Oh yeah, I personally didn't use srs wow after the first week or two of ownership. It's just gimmicky, though can be useful for certain bad recordings. Headphone and line out sound decent, but much different than say an ipod h.out. Never tried the digital.

So, the newer iRivers, such as the H10 and H320, don't have digital out? Has anybody tried comparing the H120/AV-710 with a DAC?

Is it me, or is the iHP-120 the same thing as the H120?

Same thing, iriver changed the naming to match their other line(s).

Heh, I too am looking for a player with digital out, though usb.

Dont care much for features like huge screens that drain battery, slide shows, videos, and all that crap.

Things I want are:
playlists (probbably all players today pass this one)
digital out though usb
good battery life

Will be used with:
A900LTD's
HeadRoom Total BitHead

Any sugestions?

I use my iHP-140 with Rockbox all the time. I also have a one other iHP-120 that has Rockbox on it. So it is no problem working with it.

Actually, the name change was the result of HP suing iRiver over trademark infringement. Apparently, "iHP" is too similar to HP and consumers may think that they're buying a Hewlett Packard product .

Yes, Hewlett Packard wouldn't want people to confuse such a well made device with being one of their vast line digital audio players on the market.

140's are much harder to find than 120's. Ebay and misticaudio are the only two options I'm aware of.
