Help w/ cable assessment

The other day I was looking through a bunch of assorted electronics cables in storage and found a much better mini-mini interconnect to replace the one I'm currently using with my amp, since it's significantly thicker and thus heavier-gauge. Now it doesn't look "audiophile-level" by any means, but I was wondering how good a cable it is regardless. I took 2 pics of it in opposing light conditions (flash on, flash off) so you can see it in detail, it's the one on the left:

The one on the right is not the interconnect cable I've been using, I couldn't find it. It's the end of the KSC-75 though, which happens to be exactly the same as the interconnect (ok so my previous interconnect is pathetic, I know!), included for comparison.

Is the heavier-gauge cable ok to use as an interconnect? (Btw, it also looks to be about 6'.) Or should I get a Cardas because it's an eyesore?

It's not about the size or the looks, it is about doing its job of transfering the signal from one device to the other. If it works and sounds fine, go with it. If you want to see if there is a difference or if it makes you happier to have a more audiophile looking cable, then try out the Cardas.
